Bad Company:
The idea for this radio drama started up quite simple. A nervous and asocial outsider ends up in party where a girls drugs him and takes advantage of him sexually. I liked this idea as it flips the stereotypical gender roles. My role in this production was main writer, director and editor.

However I wanted to develop the story further, and let this outsider get more and more cough up in an unhealthy lifestyle of drugs and violence. This was catalysed by the female character fooling the outsider and tricking him into spending money and time with her merely to cater for her own drug problem. He also gets into drug trading and as his own consume increases he starts suffering from various psychological problems. This would build up to him getting death treats from more prominent dealers and the whole drama ends up in an enigma or open ending.

When I was finished writing the manuscript it turned out to be over 40 minutes long which were 4 times the required length of the assignment. We therefore had to chop the whole script up removing ¾ and rewrite the ¼ to create some sort of suspense and dramaturgy even if short. Unfortunately this was only half successful in my eyes as the story barely start before the main character is killed off to create a climax. The rewriting also resulted in a lot more inner monologue removing a lot of suspense and giving the piece a rather flat dramaturgy.

Still the drama received a good mark, probably more for production skill then content. The feedback has also been very positive, so have a listen to it in the examples to the left. The entire drama is available as compressed MP3 and will probably take around 10-20 minutes to download on a 56k modem.
